Lamborghini Targets 25 Percent Sales Increase for China

Lamborghini plans to expand its business in China, aiming to sell 100 of its exotic vehicle in the country this year, as Reuters reports, citing the carmaker’s president and Chief Executive Officer, Stephan Winkelmann.

The automotive manufacturer wants its sales to grow 25 percent from last year’s figure of 80 units, planing to take advantage of China’s huge potential, the CEO said during the Beijing Auto Show.

The company also used the event to show its dedication to the country, unveiling a special edition of the Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, which is only destined for the Chinese market.

The Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce China Limited Edition comes in a flat grey color and features strongly contrasting orange decals. Lamborghini will only build 10 units of the supercar, with each one of them bearing a numeration badge with the name of its owner.

The LP 670-2 SuperVeloce’s uses an upgraded V12 powerplant that produces 670hp and comes with a 100 kg weight reduction. The vehicle’s power to weight ratio of 2.3 kg per hp, together with its all wheel drive system, allow it to leave the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark in just 3.2 seconds. The top incarnation of the Murcielago can reach a top speed of 342 km/h (213.7 mph).

Lamborghini plans to create a sports car culture in China and is currently in the process of expanding its presence in the country. Last week, the company inaugurated its seventh showroom in China. This is located in Shenzen and will soon be followed by a new dealership in Xiamen.
