Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept, the Carbon Surprise

It's not clear where it all started, but the shroud of mystery surrounding Lamborghini's month long teaser torture might just begin to get lifted. The car which was teased for about five times now and was believed to be the new Jota (including by autoevolution), has now become a new concept, called Sesto Elemento.

According to the ones credited to have gotten to the bottom of it all, French website Blog Automobile, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento will be some sight for sore eyes. Made entirely (really, entirely) out of carbon fiber (it appears it is carbon which gives the car its name, as the chemical element has the atomic number 6), the car will be used to showcase what Lamborghini has been promising for quite some time: carbon fiber cars.

The source says the concept, thanks to the material it is made from, will be weighing only 999 kg (2,202 pounds) and will pack a monster V10 engine. The unit, powerful as it is, will become even more so, thanks to the weight of the car.

The V10 is said to be capable of propelling the Sesto Elemento from naught to sixty in just 2.5 seconds, a Holy Grail for most supercars, on the way to a top speed of over 220 mph (354 km/h).

Now, remember, all of the above, exciting as it sounds, is not yet confirmed. But we have a feeling it will be soon. So much so, that we're sending a team to Paris to get a first look at what the engineers from Lamborghini's Advanced Composites Research Center (ACRC) have been up to.
