Remember the Asterion? The Huracan-based concept premiered in 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show with three electric motors and a 5.2-liter V10, packing 910 PS (898 horsepower) in total.
Lamborghini made it clear that the future will be hybridized for both the ten-cylinder engine and V12 in the Aventador, but nobody appears to be sure when that future will come a-knockin’. At the earliest, the rumor mill suggests the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Autocar.co.uk highlights that the Aventador will be replaced in 2020 with a yet-to-be-named supercar, adding that a preview will be presented this fall in the guise of “a low-volume, £2 million hybridized hypercar.” Right off the bat, there’s no denying that two million pounds sterling is a bit too much money.

“Prospective buyers got a look at the new model last year, but this would be the first time the car, codenamed LB48H, is shown in public.” Last time we’ve heard anything about LB48H, The Supercar Blog reported about a hybrid supercar in June 2018. The report describes the vehicle as a precursor to the Aventador replacement.”

Considering that the Aventador dates back to February 2011 and the Aventador S entered production in 2017, it’s high time for the heir-apparent to make an appearance. A preview of the vehicle – dressed up as a special edition - with parts from the outgoing model and a few from the successor doesn’t seem all that impossible, does it?

If Lamborghini is capable of cranking out 1,000 horsepower from the hybridized V12, then the limited-run model would duke it out with the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. The problem with that is, a build slot of the SF90 Stradale popped up for $1.5 million, a lot less than the estimated starting price of the LB48H.

On that note, does anyone remember the Terzo Millennio concept? Here’s hope Lamborghini will take inspiration from it for the exterior design of the LB48H or whatever it will be called.
