Earlier today, McLaren announced that the production of its Sports Series models had begun in Woking, with its new 570S Coupe. This prompted us to take a closer look at this new Porsche 911 Turbo S rival.
Looking at the spec sheet, you quickly learn that everything was set up to give the neunelfer a run for its money, literally. The acceleration times are similar, the engines are similar in size and even their outputs are dangerously close. Everything is set for an epic battle.

Unfortunately for other cars out there, they might find themselves tangled in a similar battle soon enough. One of the first will be the Lamborghini Huracan which, even if it has a different philosophy behind it, is still within hitting range.

The Italian remained on the atmospheric path, if you will, staying true to Lamborghini’s core values and using a naturally aspirated engine, even though it had to be pretty big in size to deliver the performance expected from it. The 5.2-liter V10 engine makes 610 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque, enough to send the Huracan from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds.

The McLaren tells a different story, one of forced induction and less horsepower. To be more precise, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 delivers 570 HP and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. That helps it reach the previously mentioned benchmark speed in exactly the same time.

Looking over these specs, you’d think that when the two are pitted against each other, they would be neck and neck at least up to 62 mph, but in reality, things may be a little different.

As you’re about to see, the all-wheel drive system of the Huracan helps it distance itself from the McLaren up to around 100 mph, the point where the Briton starts to make a comeback. This is truly an exciting showdown.
