Automotive Mike just tipped us regarding the footage he captured during today's Nordschleife prototype testing session. He says it sounds even more insane in person, and you know what? We believe him.

Lamborghini likes to get a few things wrong when it launches a supercar. That leaves these crazy Italians room for a big update a few years later. Without models like the Gallardo Superleggera and Super Trofeo Stradale, the company probably wouldn't be where it is today.

Mark the day on your callendary as the first when you saw a video of the Lamborghini Huracan SUperleggera. A year from now, every automotive journalist and celebrity in the world will build an altar and bow to this car.

But, like a good wine...

The super-light Huracan needs time to develop into something we can savor. So for now, let's look at the raw ingredients and examine the possible outcome.

Firstly, this remains a naturally aspirated V10 supercar, but with a bit more of an edge polished into the blade. It's going to feel like a polar opposite of the latest Ferrari supercar, the 488 GTB, which uses a downsized twin-turbo.

At a glance, it's pretty clear that the entire body of the Huracan has been redesigned for downforce. At the front, we see more aero elements that channel the current through and around the vehicle. The front splitter is lower, and the side air intakes have been enlarged.

Forward swept rear wing

Lamborghini has made a trademark out of the forward swept wing. It dominates the rear quarters of the car, towering over the V10 engine. About half of it points towards the nose, reminding us of the Sukhoi S-37 Russian fighter jet. As if the F-117 stealthy look wasn't enough, now we have elements from one of the most manuvrable and deadliest things in the sky.

"Superleggera" is Italian for super light and it's a name made famous by the Gallardo. We don't know how much weight they plan to shave, but Lamborghini recently hinted that it wants to make carbon fiber mainstream. So we could be looking at around 220 lbs or 100 kilograms.

As for the V10 engine, we expect at least 10-20 horsepower to be added. You might notice that the exhaust configuration has been changed completely, so performance upgrades will certainly come through better air flow out of those ten cylinders.
