This weekend, the Nurburgring has claimed another supercar. Then again, the devil is in the details of the story, with the tale involving a Lamborghini.

First of all, we're not talking about the Nordschleife that usually occupies our headlines. Instead, we're referring to the GP layout of the German track - while the first came to life in 1927, its high-speed sections and overall configuration make its extremely dangerous, which is why the safer GP track was built back in 1984. Then again, the latter is not without its drawbacks, since the lack of high-velocity corners and heavy braking areas means overtaking is extremely difficult.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo one-make series visited the Ring this weekend, but the race held yesterday wasn't without its incidents, which brings us to the fire.

A Huracan Super Trofeo burned to a crisp during the race and you can check it all out in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page. The info regarding the circumstances that led to the fire is limited, but a fuel leak is believed to have caused the disaster.

While the emergency responders didn't take long to reach the car, this was completely engulfed by the flames by the time it received the much-needed attention. Note that the role of a fire rescue machine was taken by an Audi Q7.

Towards the end of the clip, we can see the fully extinguished Huracan being loaded onto a platform truck and while the damage is uber-serious, there are still enough parts of the racecar that can be saved.

Since we mention racing and the Nurburgring, we'll remind you that the Nordschleife also gets its fair share of motorsport action. And, as you can imagine, the Green Hell racing involves plenty of crashes.

In fact, we've recently shown you one of the most spectacular Ring racing accidents of the year, with this involving a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup that flipped at least ten times before coming to a halt.
