Lamborghini Huracan Spyder Leaked Photo Might Not Be Legit

Earlier today, we showed you a teaser video from Lamborghini announcing that "The Sky Will Never Be the Same" after the Frankfurt Motor Show. We'd like to pretend that the mystery has been solved by this photo of the Huracan Spyder. But that might not be the case.

The image is clearly marked by German magazine Auto Bild. Considering its glossy covers usually have to be printed ahead of time, we could be looking at Lamborghini goods released under an embargo.

However, this could also be a photoshopped image for the online version of the German 'bild'. If you look closely at the front end of the Huracan, you might notice small white spots that are reflected lights. But they are not visible in the hindquarters, and that's definitely fishy.

Another thing that doesn't smell right is the design of the removable roof. After the Gallardo Spyder, the world is expecting its successor to have a conventional fabric soft-top. What's more, the new Audi R8 (same platform) will also have this layout.

But the rendering at hand seems to suggest something similar to the McLaren 650S and Ferrari 458 Spider. Two humps extend from behind the seats to create a more exotic look than the Gallardo could muster.

Whether it's at the Frankfurt Motor Show in two weeks or two years from now, the Huracan Spyder is on its way and will pack the same 610 horsepower V10 engine and 7-speed twin-clutch gearbox.

The supercar market is now more competitive than ever, and Lamborghini needs all the advantages it can get its hands on. A ridiculously funky roof design? Why not, when the customers already expect an insane experience to come as standard.

For now, we can thank the guys at Zero 2 Turbo for the photo tip and hope the real Huracan Spyder is just as good.
