When an airport is built in areas such as Bologna, Italy, it tends to enjoy certain advantages . And we're not just talking about the food. Instead, we're here to focus on the new Follow Me vehicle found over there.
The airport turned to a Lamborghini Huracan for such a task, but why? After all, you average Fiat would be enough to keep up with the kind of ground speed values the airliners use.
Well, given the local appeal for all things fashionable, perhaps the airport couldn't introduce the new Follow Me livery without proper four-wheeled support.
Regardless, the Huracan has entered service earlier this week and will continue to turn heads until January next year. We're not kidding about the attention magnet effect of the supercar, as even those who happen to be familiar with the Raging Bull's V10 weapon have plenty of reasons to throw a glance at the mid-engined vehicle.
Light bar aside, the livery seen here comes from Lamborghini's Centro Stile, mixing the chequered flag (of course) with the city's representation. Oh and if you ever happen to get lost after the landing, the Italian flag on the nose of the supercar should at least give you a clue on your position.
Safety advocates have no reason to fret, though. Any pilot being tempted to give in to his or her car-loving urges and thus risking getting distracted can simply follow the naturally aspirated voice of the Lambo.
About 16 miles (25 kilometers) - this is the distance separating the Lamborghini factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese and the Bolognia airport. So maybe the fully-dressed Huracan's airport presence might even inspire some extra Lamborghini Museum visits.
Regardless, we love it when history repeats itself in such glorious ways, as this isn't the first time when a current Lamborghini model covers such duties. And since the similar event that took place back in 2013 involved the Aeroporto di Bologna welcoming an Aventador, we might even see the Urus getting the Follow Me attire once the SUV makes its debut.
