Now that Lamborghini has three distinct models in its lineup, the Internet has come up with a suggestion for a fourth vehicle. Delivered to us in render form, this is presented as a hot hatch.
While an aficionado could easily spot the vehicle used as a base here, the pixel player behind the stunt doesn't even try to hide the fact that the Audi RS3 was used as a starting point.
And while the idea of a Sant'Agata Bolognese compact might seem to come out of nowhere, all the common bits of the Audi Q8 and the Lamborghini Urus will tell you where this came from.
On the tech front, the Audi RS3 has all the firepower a Raging Bull compact would need, thanks to its monstrous turbocharged in-line five-cylinder engine, which already delivers 400 horsepower in Ingolstadt configuration.
However, the quattro system of the RS3 still doesn't remove the understeering character of the car, which would be totally unfit for the Italian badge.
Then again, the whole idea of such a rebranding is best left to the fantasy land that is our computer screen.
From the dilution of the Lamborghini brand to completely ruining the already-threatened idea of a hot hatch's reasonable pricing, there are simply too many downsides to such a project.
Returning to the real world, the Italian automotive producer is currently working to electrify its lineup. We're talking hybridization here and it seems that the first production gas-electric Lambo will come in the form of the Aventador replacement.
Set to land in 2021, the plug-in hybrid setup will allow the supercar to maintain its naturally aspirated V12 and we're eager to see how much carbon fiber the Italians are ready to throw in the mix in the aim of keeping the scale footprint reasonable. Let the betting begin!
