It is no secret that Audi participated considerably in the development of the current Lambo Gallardo, but, in the end, it was still a proper Italian supercar, which looked great, made all the right noises, yet it was still usable and comfortable for everyday use.
However, with its rivals now being more talented, Lamborghini needs to get the replacement for the Gallardo just right. Now, according to InsideLine, we have learnt that the new car, which will not be called Gallardo, will use a new modular platform developed by the VW group, yet is currently not used.
Audi will again help with the car’s development, yet this time their involvement will be deeper. The new car’s powerplant may be a joint effort between Audi and Lambo, and it may shrink in displacement, and gain forced induction, as is the trend nowadays.
However, keeping in mind the fact that Lamborghini’s CEO, Stephan Winkelmann was actually born and raised in Italy, we hope he will guide the development of the new car in the right direction, not straying too far from what makes their cars unique and special.
