Lamborghini must have caught the same virus Pagani had when they couldn’t stop saying this and that was the last Zonda. We were convinced that the track-ready Trophy car was the Gallardo’s swan song, but a recent report from Teamspeed indicates an LP 550-2 Spyder has been confirmed for production.
If the car does indeed become reality, it will mean that you’ll be able to enjoy bugs hitting your windscreen at top speed with the top down and hitting the side windows while drifting through a corner thanks to a rear-wheel drive setup that’s been missing from the drop-top.
The car should be similar in setup to the 550-2 Valentino Balboni edition, of which only 250 were built, all named after Lamborghini’s test driver. However, the Spyder won’t come with the same sort of graphics, and it won’t be named after mr. Balboni.
You can be sure the car will have 550 metric hp from its 5.2-liter V10.
