The driver of the Lamborghini Gallardo(s) in the adjacent images definitely has quite a story to tell his grandchildren one day, with the sheet fact that he walked away from the monstrous crash being the highlight of it all.
The crash took place on Tuesday, on what was reportedly a seriously wet road, with the driver, a 40-year old businessman, explaining he was doing 93 mph (150 km/h) at the time, as Bangkok Post writes. It looks like the rain overcome the Gallardo’s mechanical all-wheel drive, with the supercar veering off the road and smashing into a tree.

As we’ve seen on countless previous supercar crash occasions, mid-engined chassis such as the Gallardo’s one are usually designed to allow the rear section, which includes the engine, to detach from the passenger cell in the case of a severe side impact.

The passive safety of the Lamborghini did exactly what it was supposed to do, hence the driver’s unscathed status. In fact, the man said he only noticed the car had split in half once he exited the cabin.

When emergency rescuers arrived at the scene, the man was talking on the phone with the insurance company. Perhaps somebody else needed a medic...

The businessman explained he had visited a temple prior to the accident, with a friend recommending him to wear a Budha amulet while going for a drive, which he did. While the man was happy about the amulet having protected him, the interesting detail is that there seems to be a mix between religion and finance here.

The amulet reportedly belonged to a honoured Buddhist monk, with its price potentially reaching about 10 percent of the Lamborghini’s cost. Business is business.
