Lamborghini Centenario Confirmed for Geneva Debut, It’s a Homage to Ferruccio Lamborghini

On April 28, 1916, a legendary man was born. The person known as Ferruccio Elio Arturo Lamborghini is the father of Lamborghini Trattori and, more importantly, the founder of Automobili Lamborghini. Next year at the Geneva Motor Show, the company Ferruccio created will celebrate 100 years since Mr. Lamborghini himself was born by launching a mind-bogglingly fast car - the Lamborghini Centenario.

We don’t like to beat around the bush, so we’ll tell you this plainly - no other information is known at the present moment about the Lamborghini Centenario. This is where Stephan Winkelmann steps in with a number of off-the-record details. Speaking to AutoExpress, the CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. makes it clear that renderings of the Centenario have been shown to customers.

To come with a coupe body shell, the Lamborghini Centenario will blend tradition with innovation. “Performance, design, weight, aerodynamics and also the chassis in terms of adaptability control,” are the things we should look forward to. Compared to the Huracan and Aventador, the Lamborghini Centenario will be a much more distinctive creation in terms of exterior aesthetics.

According to an insider who has seen the renderings of the Lamborghini Centenario, we should prepare for an alluring design yet “not as extreme as you might expect.” Don’t worry though - the Centenario is not the end of the wedge-shaped Lamborghini design. In terms of go-faster bragging rights, the Centenario will certainly be the fastest car to come out of Sant'Agata Bolognese. Still, there’s no word on the engine we’ll find under the hood of this mid-engined monster.

Will it be a modified V10 from the Huracan? We don’t think so. How about an all-new powerplant, possibly turbocharged? That’s not possible, at least not until the entire Lamborghini lineup will turn to force-fed powerplants. If our intuition is correct, the Lamborghini Centenario will use a modified version of the Aventador’s 6.5-liter V12. In Superveloce (SV) format, the twelve-cylinder motor produces 740 horsepower.

Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise for engineers to crank the engine up to 800 horsepower, give or take a few Italian stallions. Only 20 examples will ever be made, so be quick about putting a deposit on one.
