Lamborghini Cabrera Could Come with 600 HP

The Raging Bull has recently launched its V12-powered supercar, the Aventador, so its V10 offering is getting bullied out of the spotlight. We want to rectify this be bringing to your attention a very interesting bit of information: the Gallardo-replacing Cabrera could pack a total of 600 horsepower.

This interesting piece of information comes via Autoblog.it and isn’t all that surprising. “Why is that not surprising?” you may ask. Well, because Lamborghini has launched a number of more powerful editions for the Gallardo, but all have had outputs shy of the 600 hp figure.

Though its power has steadily increased since its introduction in 2003, the Gallardo is long overdue for a replacement. We expect the new model, to be called Cabrera, to come with the same composite construction and weight saving monocoque as the Aventador.

Back when it was introduced, the 5-liter V10 engine in provided an impressive 500 hp at 7,800 rpm, 510 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm (with as much as 80% available as low as 1,500 rpm) and was made entirely from aluminum. We don’t know if the displacement will remain the same, but the V10 aluminum block should stick around for the next generation.

Rumors have been circulating that the Cabrera could use some form of forced induction, but with only about 30 horsepower separating the 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera from the magic 600 hp figure, we doubt that.

Lambo fans won’t have to wait long for what could be called the Cabrera LP600-4, as the car will make its presence felt sometime next year.
