Lamborghini Blancpain – More Races for the People

Gentlemen, start your engines! Italian car maker Lamborghini decided that their cars weren't getting enough coverage and thusly rightly started a new racing series that is going to feature the bold and beautiful speed demons named after fighting bulls.

The new event is going to be called The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and it will start off in May 2009. They say it's going to be the world's fastest one-make series and it's going to be sponsored by the Swiss watchmaker who also lends the title to the championship.

The cars featured - or should we say car - because it's going to be just one make and model, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 will be a special version, with a lightweight chassis, heavily modified to meet the harsh racing safety requirements. The engine is going to be the stock 5.2 liter V10 whose power will be transmitted to the tarmac via a set of Pirelli tires aided by pro brakes.

The races will take place in Europe, during race weekends, along the DTM and WTCC championships. The first event will take place on May 3rd 2009 at Silverstone racking track.

The enter fee plus racing tax is 200,000 euros and it's open to just about anyone. For this money you gain access to a Lamborghini Gallardo and roadside assistance. An interesting feature is that during each race there is going to be one place reserved for a celebrity on the starting grid.

With Formula One being close to a very violent demise, or at least a bloody revolution, maybe will end up watching these races during the racing weekends. And who knows, maybe a select few with cash to spare will even get a chance to race a Gallardo around Silverstone. As far as the celebrity thing goes, does anyone have Brad Pitt's phone number? Wait, he's into motorcycles. Tom Cruise than maybe? That will make for one hell of an advertisement.
