Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster Fully Revealed in Spyshots, Sub-7m Nurburgring Time Rumored

Lamborghini isn't shy about the upcoming Aventador Superveloce Roadster, with the Italian allowing a fully naked pre-production model to run around their home town of Sant'Agata Bolognese.

As expected, the spy photographers did their job well and now we have the first completely undisguised pics of the open-top model. This means we'll most likely get an online reveal much sooner than the public debut, which is expected for the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The supercar itself

Raging Bull engineers have gone completely mental with the development of the SV coupe and things have not changed with the Roadster.

The Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster will make use of a two-panel carbon top, which is expected to weigh as little as 13 lbs (5.8 kg). Still, the reinforcements required by the open-top configuration mean the Roadster will be around 110 lbs (49.8 kg) heavier than the fixed roof model.

At the center of the car, we'll find the same naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12, pushing 750 hp, which makes for 50 more compared to the standard Roadster, if we may call it so.

The most extreme part of it all

In spite of the weight disadvantage, the Aventador SV Roadster is expected to offer similar performance figures to the coupe. Among others, this means we should receive the same sub-7 minutes Nurburgring lap time that puts the fixed roof model just three seconds behind the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar.

The trick here is that we might not get to see the newcomer setting a Green Hell time too soon. We'll remind you the Nurburgring is currently going through a dark age - lap records are basically banned, since multiple speed limits have been imposed following a deadly VLN racing crash earlier this year.

The Aventador SV managed to set the time mentioned ahead just one day ahead of the speed restrictions tightening. And with the new limits standing in the way of Koenigsegg's goal to demonstrate its One:1 is the fastest production car in the world, a conspiracy theory has developed. Certain people claim the Swedish carmaker was ousted on purpose and that the VW Group, who also owns Lamborghini, has something to do with it.

Returning to the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster Superveloce itself, production is expected to be limited to 500 units, 100 less than the coupe, which, by the way, is sold out.

And while we're waiting for the official images to appear, the renderings in the gallery below should serve as a delicious starter.

P.S.: we found the Aventador coupe more appealing than the Roadster, mainly over two aspects. First of all, stowing the roof takes up the entire luggage compartment. While this won't change with the SV, the second important flaw of the Roadster will - in order to keep the handling at the same level, Lamborghini stiffened up the suspension of the open-top model. With the SV's active dampers, this shouldn't be a problem anymore.
