There was no need to scream and shout about the new Aventador in Frankfurt, as the model had been revealed for a number of months. Yet attention was still focused on the work of a former Mercedes-Benz engineer and German model maker Robert Gulpen, who showed up to the event with a scale replica of the new supercar.
What interesting about this models is not the 1:8 scale or the painstaking attention to detail, but the price of miniature perfection. Apparently, the model is going to be auctioned off for the princely sum of €3.5 million, which makes it at least ten times more expensive than the actual car with a few toys on it.
Why? Because the wheels and interior are actually cast sold gold and platinum. What’s more, the case you see in the video is bulletproof and that big Lamborghini badge isn’t for boy-scouts, as it’s made of gold and precious gems. The materials alone cost €2 million, while the work took 500 man hours.
