Can an electric Tesla crossover beat a supercar... again? We're pleased to report that the answer is no, even though the Aventador has lost to the Model X on multiple occasions in the past.
For whatever reason, the results of drag races have been very inconsistent this year, which can only mean that we are exploring the limits of launch control and tire traction technology. A little bit or slip or lag and the outcome you know is shot out the window.

Elon Musk famously tweeted about a Tesla beating a "half-million dollar supercar" which was an Aventador a while back, so we were apprehensive about this race. Last week, the same Model X P100D raced against the Lamborghini Urus and won, much to the dismay of its owner.

But luckily, Yiannimize brought over his Aventador S to see if it could slay the electric beast. And it did. Cheeky Mat Watson doesn't launch at the beginning of the first race, making his rival very angry. Fortunately, he keeps his cool and convincingly wins the second heat.

We think the outcome is down to a really good launch by the Lamborghini Aventador S. The 740 horsepower all-wheel-drive supercar manages to do the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds, so the rolling race quickly follows. There, the V12 model starts out locked in 3rd gear while the Tesla has no such mechanism.

Its twin electric motors pick up faster and create a lead. But Yiannimize finds that once the 6.5-liter reaches 5,000rpm, it transforms into an entirely different animal. It's a victory for internal combustion but using a real supercar against the bloated Tela makes us painfully aware that performance SUVs aren't as quick as the Model X.

If you'd like to see how the 650 horsepower Urus stacks up against the Aventador S, make sure to check out the second video we've included below.
