Hypercar aficionados probably remember last fall was a difficult one for the Veyron, as the Bugatti entered a drag race with a LaFerrari and lost. The Veyron has retired meanwhile, but it wouldn't have made sense for such a machine to go without a rematch with Maranello's halo car and we are here to give you just that.
Back in autumn 2014, the Bug and the LaF battled it out on the 2km runway of the Vmax200 event and this weekend saw another edition of the same event throwing the two hypercars at each other.

The British velocity festival did bring different conditions though. While last time, when the LaFerrari beat the Veyron, the track was dry, rain accompanied the rematch.

Not necessarily as a surprise, the all-wheel drive Veyron showed its taillights to the rear-wheel drive LaFerrari on this occasion, bringing the overall score to a draw.

You can see the fight taking place in the video below, which comes from Shme150 and offers both a runway and a Ferrari cockpit view of the event. We've also added the footage from the original race below the first video.

The Vmax organizers placed speed traps almost 2 miles from the starting line, with the Ferrari hitting 206 mph (332 km/h) and the Bugatti reaching 214 mph (345 km/h). After the track dried up, the Veyron had another go, this time dialing things up to 224 mph (361 km/h).

Before you hit the "play" button, we want to remind you that while the now-decade-old Veyron delivers 987 hp (1,001 PS), the LaFerrari produces 950 hp (963 PS). Nevertheless, the VW Group's top dog tips the scales at over 4,000 lbs (1,850 kg), while the fastest Prancing Horse available weighs less than 3,000 lbs (1,350 kg).

We have to understand that when it comes to such sophisticated pieced of engineering, the power-to-weight ration isn't everything, as shown by these races.

PS: yes, we too would've liked to see a Veyron Super Sport bring its 1,184 hp (1,200 PS) to the party, but this wasn't the case.

UPDATE: having played the drag racing game, the same car went on to give the world a series of donuts over the course of the past weekend. You can see the... indoors hooning here.
