LaFerrari: POV Joyride Ecstasy

It's a really exciting time to be a supercar fan, isn't it? McLaren, Ferrari and Porsche have come up with three extreme cars that are as pure as mermaids and as vicious as centaurs. Like these creatures of lore, all these models take on mythical personals far beyond their actual capabilities and are extremely rare.

Bur fear not, while in the time of the Ferrari Enzo you'd have to buy a printed magazine, nowadays you can check out every nook and cranny on Youtube. Regarding Maranello's new LaFerrari monster, this next video is the most exciting non-professional clip we've ever seen. Instead of filming the V12 car from the outside, Youtuber Marchettino shows us what it's like to be behind the wheel, 963 hp of hybridized power urging you to go faster and faster.

POV, short for Point Of View, filming has only become popular in the past few months. But in that time it's managed to change the way we see supercars by letting us perceive them from the driver's perspective.

Going up an Italian mountain road, though tight streets while chasing another Ferrari… this looks so exiting that it has to be illegal. There's a sense of occasion the LaFerrari delivers in spades, something you would never be able to understand from the speed of the car, which only rarely exceeds 150 km/h, less than half of what it can do.

We think we've done enough teasing. First some nerdalicious specs and then you guys can check out the video below. The LaFerrari is actually a hybrid supercar, having an electric motor sandwiched between the V12 engine and gearbox. It's there to provide extra power and increase the overall fuel-efficiency. Combining the outputs from the two powerhouses, the exotic car has a total of 963 hp and a peak torque of over 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). LaFerrari can sprint from 0 to100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under 3 seconds and reaches a top speed in excess of 350 km/h (217 mph). Also, the car is the beneficiary of F1 inspired aerodynamics, a 7-speed DCT transmission and state-of-the-art brake and suspension systems.

Only 499 will be build, so we consider even this video a privilege.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
