On many of the occasions that bring cars and girls together, it is the latter that draw more attention - perhaps men are aware that an intelligent woman doesn’t wait for anybody, while a car will always be there. Well, the track event we are going to talk about today isn’t part of the aforementioned trend, with the grid girls clearly being overshadowed by a quadruplet of hypercars. You may be familiar with some of the names here...
The Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder and Koenigsegg Agera R recently threw a party on the Assen Circuit in the Netherlands. Alas, this was more of a parade rather an actual race between the three hybrids and Koenigsegg’s petrol-only monster.
The reasons for this were many. First of all, the damp condition on the track didn’t quite go well with the rear-wheel drive exhibited by each of these machines, especially since they were driven by journalists.
Nonetheless, the grid girls followed the “if you can’t beat them, join them” logic and stepped inside one of the cars for a little glamor session. Their choice? The LaFerrari, of course.
The almost four thousand horses gathered on the Dutch track bring up an interesting idea - Assen, with its Tourist Trophy course, is mostly known for its motorcycle racing, but now the car scene seems to have stolen the show.
A similar story took place recently, when Subaru broke the car record on the Isle Of Man, another track that was made famous by its Tourist Trophy bike races.
