Road regulations are not just empty words, and failing to comply with the basic one often results in nasty crashes. As for where would a guy be driving the car prior to steering left or right... it's plain common sense... for most drivers.
We're sure you've all met the kind of driver in this video at least once on the roads: people with insufficient driving skills to allow them to make a tight 90-degree turn. All they can do is take wide turns, and they seem not to care whether they sometimes enter the opposite lane before making a lousy right turn. Adding in not signaling and not checking the mirrors just makes things worse.
With the car in front driving close to the middle of the road, less experienced drivers would assume it will steer left or just move on ahead... whereas the said driver is only preparing a wide right turn. And if driving a large truck would make such a maneuver expectable and needed, doing the same with a compact-class care means only one thing: the driver sucks.
