Lada Vesta Sport Revealed, Looks Like a Russian Octavia RS

We've seen hundreds of Lada crash videos from Russia, enough to tell you that they are prone to killing people. Yet a sports version isn't such a bad idea, as more powerful engines are usually accompanied by better brakes.

Meet the Lada Vesta Sport, a pre-production study at the moment, but soon to become something Russians can and probably will buy. The automaker has been doing plenty of motorsports, so the experience and drive to make a faster road vehicle is logical.

Right, back to the Vesta Sport. It's got license plates, but the production version will be shown in August at the Moscow Automotive Salon 2016.

Rumor has it that instead of the regular engine, they've installed a tuned version of their older 1.8-liter, which produces 150 PS instead of 122.

The gearbox chosen is some kind of version of the Renault JR3, which unless we are mistaken is usually connected to the 1.5 dCi or naturally aspirated 1.6. It should be fine, considering that a 1.8-liter can't make any more than 200... maybe 220 Nm of torque.

Beside these under-the-hood updates, the Lada Vesta Sport will feature a suspension system that's been shortened by 45mm and all-round disk brakes instead of the usual rear drums.

The exterior paint scheme is borrowed from the Vesta race car and includes a black-on-yellow combination. So now that all the details have been exhausted, let's play a game: guess what cars they were looking at when they made this Lada.

From the back, we see a lot of Skoda Octavia RS, including the spoiler and black accents. The exhaust and lower bumper have a hint of the previous generation Fiesta ST and the paint has a lot of Camaro added.

While the Vesta Sport won't be sold anywhere else but Russia, we can't help wonder what will happen in a track battle between it and the Renault Sandero RS.
