LA Lakers’ Julius Randle’s BMW i8 Makes Hybrid Look Mean

Tesla Motors might be enjoying a record quarter, but it doesn’t mean there’s a lot that can be done to stop BMW’s i sub-brand in any way. Winning the 2015 World Green Car Award the second time in a row has to mean something, no matter what the critics keep bragging about. Either way the BMW i8 seems to be doing the job for celebrities like Los Angeles Lakers’ power forward Julius Randle.

Julius Caesar who? Noo, not the iconic general who turned the Roman Republic into an Empire about 2000 years ago. No, we’re talking about the 20-year-old basketball player who just turned into a sports celebrities, NBA star namely. And like any other famous basketball player, once you’re in the Association wheels start spinning. In this case, wheels are literally spinning, and it’s not in a metaphorical way, but in a hybrid one.

To his growing-by-the-month car collection, a new, plug-in hybrid beauty was recently added. The BMW i8 in question might not look like the Leipzig-made 2-door coupe finished in white with blue accents we all have been dreaming of, but it is. You see, the Dallas, Texas-born NBA star probably felt the original color is not fitting his celebrity lifestyle, so he decided to take some custom care of it himself.

Well, it was not truly him to do the job, but the Sunset Blvd.-based RDB L.A. auto shop. The boys found it quite appropriate to cover the entire car with this matte black cover, and like it or not this is what it is, a bad-boy hybrid. To be honest, if we were to get one we’d rather go for an ocean blue color or simply keep the stock white with blue accents finish, but that’s just us.
