Kylie Jenner Criticized for Parking Illegally in a Disability Accessible Spot

Celebrities, we all love and love to hate them. Reality star and makeup mogul Kylie Jenner is no different when it comes to polarizing opinions, grabbing headlines for anything ranging from her fashion choices, parenting style or fondness of expensive cars.

However, if there’s one thing that will always prompt a negative reaction, that’s illegal parking, especially if a disability accessible parking spot is also concerned. Apparently, Jenner is also one of those drivers who will occupy a handicap spot even though they’re not legally allowed to do so.

Over the weekend, Jenner posted a photo of herself and her boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott, standing outside their car in what looks like an underground parking lot. Though she’s usually not shy about showing off her impressive fleet of cars, this time, she’s trying to brag about her man, not her rides. “Partners in crime 4 evaaa,” she writes in the caption of the pic.

So, you can’t make out the make or type of vehicle she and Scott rode, but you can clearly see a part of a sign that indicates that the very spot they’re parked on is reserved for people with disabilities. As you can imagine, the Internet and the media noticed – and rightfully called her out for it.

For someone with such a large fanbase, Jenner is hardly making an effort to be a good role model, the Ruderman Family Foundation tells People Magazine in a statement.

“Accessible parking is meant for people with disabilities who need it,” Jay Ruderman, the foundation’s president, says. “As a role model to many, this is an opportunity for Kylie Jenner to use her celebrity status to help society understand why accessible parking is a basic right for people with disabilities to be included in daily life.”

Instead, she seems to be glorifying something that many drivers already do on the regular: use the spots that they’re not legally allowed to, enforcing this negative behavior.

Because of their large following, celebrities are often called out for stuff like this. Just recently, David Beckham was criticized for allowing his attorney to find and exploit a loophole that got him out of a speeding charge, when the star had already admitted guilt. For that, he drew heavy criticism, because he could have turned the mistake into a learning moment for his fans.
