KW Releases iPhone Controlled Suspension for 2013 BMW 3 Series Touring

Every single test drive we saw up until now about BMW's new F31 Touring 3 Series, said one thing: you definitely should get the Adaptive Dampers option. That's a $1,000 option in the US and €1,100 in Europe.

German aftermarket suspension manufacturer KW decided it was time to offer an alternative. They came up with a new KW DDC ECU set of coilovers that will make you forget you didn't get the costly option.

Not only will the new suspension transform your car just like the Adaptive Dampers would, but you'll also get some extra features. Just like BMW's system, the KW suspension allows you to choose between Comfort, Sport or Sport+ modes.

However, the aftermarket kit is also iPhone compatible. What that means is that you'll be able to adjust your suspension from your phone. Not only that, but the especially created app will allow you to optionally adjust the dampers depending on the load.

For example, if you're going for a long trip and are carrying a lot of luggage, the rear axle can be stiffened up whilst the front can remain in Comfort mode. Your settings can then be saved and used for another trip or even shared with your friends.

The KW DDC ECU Suspension allows you to raise or lower your suspension by up to 60 mm (2.3 inches) for the front axle and 55mm (2.1 inches) for the rear, it's made completely out of highest grade stainless steel and is TUV certified.
