NASCAR has decided to indefinitely suspend American stock car racing driver Kurt Thomas Busch two days before the “Super Bowl” event of the sport kicks off. The decision comes after a judge ruled he almost surely choked and beat a former girlfriend last fall.
Dark clouds are looming over the winner of the 25 Cup races and the 2004 championship after earlier controversies of domestic violence now prove to be true. Last November it was announced that Busch was being investigated over domestic assault for an incident that happened two months earlier in Dover, Delaware. The incident involved his ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll inside a motorhome at Dover International Speedway.

This Monday, the 36-year old NASCAR racer was given a no-contact order by a Dover judge. Busch smashed his ex-girlfriend’s head against his motor home wall in September 26 at Dover International Speedway, according to the conclusions of a Kent County family court commissioner.

This sort of conduct is obviously against to stock car racing which is why NASCAR has decided to suspend the driver on a indefinite period of time. “Given the serious nature of the findings and conclusions made by the Commissioner of the Family Court of the State of Delaware, NASCAR has indefinitely suspended driver Kurt Busch, effective immediately. He will not be allowed to race nor participate in any NASCAR activities until further notice,” the National Association said, according to ESPN.

Since the most important and prestigious race on the NASCAR calendar is less than 24 hours from kick off, it’s obvious the incident will affect the event itself. As to who will replace Busch for this weekend’s race, it appears 31-year old Regan Smith will most likely be holding the wheel.
