Kuhl Racing Bringing Engraved Gold Nissan GT-R to 2016 SEMA Show

When we discover new Japanese tuning projects, we don't expect them to become famous across the world. Such was the case with the engraved metal projects made by Kuhl Racing. But they were too... cool to stay in Japan.

Last year, the sterling silver engraved Nissan GT-R created quite the stir at the SEMA Show. But it has a twin brother who shows even more attention to detail.

Kuhl partnered with Izawa Art Design and AMF Forged, an aluminum wheel maker. So the gold GT-R received some new deep-dish 3-piece wheels and some fat Falken rubber just in time for SEMA.

There's not going to be another car like it there, and we think the Vegas locals will love the JDM look combined with a gold finish. Sure, there are plenty of cars that have dozens of hours spent on paint, but this probably has hundreds if not a thousand.

Kuhl only makes the body kit, which widens the stance of the GT-R and allows for such oversized wheels to be stuffed into the car. After that, every single panel has to be stripped of paint, and skilled artisans begin engraving with Dremel grinders.

The overall pattern is outlined with pinstriping tape and then engraved into the car, which probably takes several days. The leaf motif kind of looks like the holster of a cowboy gun or one of those custom swords they make on Man at Arms, that cool YouTube show.

Of course, some of the panels are not made from metal. But Kuhl's artisans have managed to keep the engraved leaf motif and perfectly match the gold paint.

With all these details, it's easy not to spot the regular tuning bits, the ones this Japanese company hopes you will buy for your GT-R. The parts include fenders, bumpers, and spoilers. Nobody does Exhaust systems quite like the Japanese. The one for the GT-R is unnecessarily complicated and features the exotic Heat Blue titanium finish.
