Kubica Would Fancy Kimi Raikkonen Team-Up

Although Adrian Sutil has been intensively linked with a racing seat at Renault next season, current rally driver and former F1 champion Kimi Raikkonen is not out of this story just yet. Although with a slim chance of making that seat next year – because of his well-known high financial demands when it comes to salary – the Finn might indeed join Robert Kubica in what could become an exceptional lineup for the French manufacturer.

Obviously, the Pole was asked about the prospect of racing alongside another driver next season – Vitaly Petrov seems to be with one foot out of the Enstone team already – and said that he would fancy teaming up with the 2007 F1 champion.

As I always say, I have no problems with my team-mates,” said Kubica, who could become one of the few drivers to have three different teammates in three consecutive years in F1 (after Nick Heidfeld at BMW and Petrov this year, at Renault).

If Kimi will join us it will be very good. I think he is a great and talented driver. t might be very, very good driver line-up with him, but I don't know what the future will bring us and who will be my team-mate next year. I think it's too early to say,” added the Pole.

Additionally, he insisted that having a much more experienced driver as a teammate is more important and helpful for the team, as he can provide the engineers with more insightful feedback on the car's behavior (especially now that testing is banned for the in-season).

It's much better, especially in the current days, to have two good drivers in the team - both drivers can help the team and help each other. Without testing there is very limited time running. If you have someone you can rely on for information, data and feedback it is much easier for myself. Of course I think there is no downside to having two strong drivers in the team,” concluded Kubica.
