Great news from Mattighofen via Barcelona, as KTM launched the Freeride E-SM electric supermotard and enthusiasts will be able to throw a leg over this bike as of this month, when it is expected in dealerships.
The 2015 Freeride E-SM is the newest member to the electric Freeride-E family and it introduces a lot of cool things to the current KTM line-up. First of all, it's hard to think about a better urban do-it-all bike than a small-to-middleweight supermotard. Lightweight, nimble, with gorgeous suspensions and able to deal with both smooth and rough roads, the Freeride E-SM sums up the best KTM cam offer in this segment.

Then it's, of course, the fact that the bike is suitable for holder of an A1 driving license in Europe. This means that a lot of new, young riders will be able to use it legally on the roads, before they become fully-licensed and allowed to ride bigger machines. Follow the link for more info on the European licensing system.

Lightweight fun and a torquey bike from get go

The Freeride E-SM tips the scales at 110 kg (243 lb) and this makes it a truly interesting option because its liquid-cooled motor can produce a peak of 21.4 hp, even though it is rated at 15 hp. With 42 Nm (31 lb-ft) available right from idle and 17" supermoto wheels shod with grippy sport tires, the 2015 KTM Freeride E-SM feels as sporty as ever and will not have a hard time chasing similar petrol-powered machines.

No price was mentioned yet in relation with the 2015 KTM Freeride E-SM, but it looks like nobody is expecting anything cheap, and we fear it will be quite the opposite. The initial rumors had the motocross versions reportedly arriving with price tags around €13,000 ($14,625).

Dum Spiro, Spero (Latin for "still alive, still hoping")... And here's some cool urban Freeride E-SM action courtesy of Julien Dupont, yes, the guy who rode on the Moon and Venus!
