It's nice to see bad news turning for the better, and things are even nicer when it comes to electric two-wheelers: despite the recent declarations made by KTM CEO Stefan Pierer of backing off from the e-bike segment, the Austrian manufacturer confirmed the launch of their Freeride-E and E-Speed machines in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
The Freeride-E was most likely the basis used by KTM for engineering their all-new electric scooter, E-Speed. With all the knowledge base provided by the electric MX bike, KTM has been able to come up with a very neat scooter concept which blends in the brand's distinctive character and the future-focused electric technology.
Both machines are said to share the same powertrain components, with minor differences specific to their classes. We really hope KTM comes with upgraded specs in the production models, especially as by 2014 – 2015, the rest of the makers will have bigger batteries, more powerful engines and possibly, lower prices for all these. Go, go, go, KTM, we're looking forward to see the real bikes!
