KTM 1290 Super Duke R Features and Benefits

We're happy to bring you another new video explaining the way the awesome all-new KTM 1290 Super Duke R was engineered, its main features and... ahem, benefits. It's somehow funny in a twisted way to speak about benefits when we're dealing with an 189 kg (417 lbs), 180 HP two-wheeler, but here we go.

You've got Toby Moody talking to Jeremy McWilliams discussing the technologies embedded in the new KTM streetfighter. McWilliams, who played an important role in the development of the new Duke says the machine is extremely fun and it can wheelie upon wish, no matter the gear it's in.

The bike comes with a 3-mode traction control: Street, Rain and Race. While the first mode is almost impossible to detect as long as the rider doesn't push the limits too far, the second one offers a smoother throttle, while retaining the full power of the engine.

The third and most "brutal" mode is Sport, and Jeremy McWilliams says he and KTM tried their best to make it feel like there's no traction control all all, with a more direct relationship between the throttle and engine, requiring a more "involved" rider. He also adds that according to his experience with the 1290, the Sport mode is even more fun than disengaging the TCS altogether.

The KTM 1290 Super Duke R also comes with 2-mode ABS: fully engaged and the possibility to shut off the anti-lock brakes for the rear wheel. Of course, completely disengaging the ABS is also an option, but not the best choice by a long shot.
