When Koenigsegg came up with the mental One:1 at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, we were all thrilled to see an all-petrol response to the Ferrari LaFerrari- McLaren P1- Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid triumvirate, but we knew the extremely limited production (six pieces) meant the Swedes would come up with a broader approach soon.
The One:1 may have been built using the Agera R as a starting point, but the first was taken to such heights, that it wouldn’t be all that wrong to regard it as a new model.
Returning to the aforementioned new model the automaker is expected to release as a more “down to Earth” vehicle, the test car has now shown up on the Nurburgring. Our spy shooters came across a development car based on the Agera R, which put on quite a show in the process of performing a series of hot laps.
The clues that give the K car away include the “development car” tag on the lower side of the front splitter, while the side mirrors appear similar to those on the One:1.
The One:1 designation isn’t here just for the show. This means we are dealing with one hp for every kilogram - since the car has 1,341 hp, you would expect it to weigh 1,341 kg (2.954 lbs). And it does, on a normal scale.
On our scale, the One:1 has one tonne. A tonne of technology - all the harware goodies in this thing allow it to hit 400 km/h (mph) in 20s, while through the bends, it can generate up to 2gs. The twin turbos on the 5-liter V8 use variable geometry, while the titanium exhaust is 3D printed and the list could go on forever.
A part of all these lessons will be implemented on the upcoming development, but the fun side is that the Agera R already comes with manic specs. The hypercar holds the Guinness World Record for the quickest 0-300-0 km/h, remember?
