Koenigsegg Regera RS Could Be a Racing Version, but It's Only a Rendering

With Koenigsegg showing phenomenal progress over the last few years, the Ängelholm people are almost ready to offer us their take on the hybrid hypercar concept.
We are, obviously, talking about the Regera, which is currently in the final stage of its development. This means Christian Von Koenigsegg is driving the 1,500 hp gas-electric contraption, tweaking the little details that make a difference.

Since the vehicle can be considered a Swedish response to the HHHT (Holy Hybrid Hypercar Trinity), we couldn't help but wonder what would happen if Koenigsegg followed the track-confined path used by Ferrari and McLaren.

Having something that could measure up against the FXX K and the P1 GTR would certainly take the racing spectacle to a stratospheric level. We're saying this in spite of the fact that Maranello and Woking would never allow their racecars to compete against each other, let alone battle it out with the K boys and girls.

For now, a motorsport-destined version of the Regera is only a dream, one we can see as a rendering with the help of Rain Prisk Designs.

The digital artist has come up with the rendering above, which, to put things shortly, brings us an even meaner version of the Regera.

The sheer idea of a quicker Regera is bewildering, since we expect the Swedish creature to take the record-breaking legacy of the Agera R much further. And we admit the car could use a better suffix than the RS we included in the title above.

We'll remind those of you who haven't been following Koenigsegg's hybridization efforts that the most important feature of the Regera is that it doesn't have a gearbox.

Whether you see this as the elimination of the weak link in the power train or as a sanitizer that kills the fun, you have to admit such four-wheeled experiments are worthy of our undivided attention.

In fact, plenty of other people are already keeping a close eye on the Regera story, since 20 units are already spoken for (this makes up for a quarter of the overall production).

P.S.: Those of you who consider Koenigsegg too young for a racing effort need to look no further than Pagani to understand motorsport would only help accelerate the maturation process.
