Koenigsegg Regera Does Monster Burnout in Monterey, 1,500 HP Is Enough

The Monterey Car Week has something for every aficionado. Some of us have extremely specific requirements when it comes to the kind of hooning that floats our boat. For instance, you could be searching for burnouts delivered by machines with at least 1,000 hp that use a hybrid powertrain. Fortunately, the Californian event has just the thing for you.

We're talking about a Koenigsegg Regera burnout, one that saw the Angelholm gas-electric monster putting all of its 1,500 horses to work. By the way, this is an excellent moment to remind you tha the Reg is animated by a mix involving a twin-turbo V8 and three electric motors.

If this story sounds a bit familiar, there are at least two reasons for that.

First of all, we've discussed this particular Regera before. We're talking about the first US-spec incarnation of the hypercar, which should also be the second one ever built.

And if the extreme aero package of the car, with is an option, won't grab your attention (is that even possible?), the Candy Apple Red hue covering the body of the contraption will. Speaking of carbon fiber, let's not forget the hollow CF wheels of the beast.

Secondly, the hybrid nature of the Regera doesn't necessarily mean this K machine is used for tame purposes - remember the other Koenigsegg Regera burnout we showed you?

The sheer idea that a transmissionless vehicle can pull such tire-melting shenanigans is enough to push the excitement level to the sky. Not that such a massive burnout coming form a car with a conventional powertrain wouldn't achieve such an effect.

P.S.: If you're in a hurry, you can skip to the 17:10 point of the clip below for the Regera adventure. Nevertheless, given the tons of uber-exciting machines that took over this year's edition of the Monterey Car Week, the entire clip is worthy of your attention.
