Koenigsegg One:1 Roasts LaFerrari, 918 and P1 with 240 MPH Record at Vmax200

Top Speed is a bit like the maximum weight you can bench press at the gym. Chances are you'll never use it for anything else than bragging rights, but if you happen to actually put that number to use, the thrills will be hard to describe. And if we're talking about Koenigsegg's manic One:1, the adrenaline level goes even higher.

The Swedish hypercar had the occasion to use all of its 1,341 hp over the weekend, with the One:1 going for a top high speed run at a British event called Vmax200.

Held on the Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome, the even offers 2 miles of runway for aficionados to play on - do keep in mind that the number also includes the braking distance, so the speed-chasing part of the runway measures about 1.4 miles.

High-octane machines have been enjoying themselves on this stretch of tarmac for years now (the madness kicked off back in 2002) and, as you can imagine, drivers and spectators enjoying keeping score. And boy, oh boy did the One:1 deliver a memorable max speed. The Angelholm creature managed to hit 240 mph.

The hypercar was manhandled by Oli Webb, who likes to spend his time competing in the World Endurance Championship,

For the sake of comparison, we can tell you the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder see their drivers having to step on the brakes at about 210 mph. To go past that speed, you'll need something like a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, but even the VW Group's retired Crown Jewel stops at 225 mph.

And since we're way past the age when attention-worthy cars were all about top speed, we have to wonder how the One:1 measures up against the hypercars mentioned above when it comes to what our children might call a cliche, namely the Nurburgring.

Well, the Swedes are pushing their now-out-of-production machine to the limit on the Green Hell these days and the Porsche 918 Spyder's 6m 57s is the time to beat.
