The world record for the fastest run from zero to 300 km/h (186 mph) and back to zero once again was set by a Koenigsegg Agera R back in September 2011, in case you were wondering. Interesting fact, right? Well, the Swedes weren’t happy about the time they set back then (21.19 seconds) and decided to do it faster.
In this attempt, they used the One:1 model, the original MegaCar. Don’t know what that means? Well, it refers to the fact that the One:1’s engine was tuned to deliver one Megawatt of power which is the equivalent of 1,360 HP or 1,340 BHP.

The name of the car comes from the power to weight ratio of the Koenigsegg that is a perfect 1 to 1 excluding the driver. Thanks to the carbon fiber body and aluminum chassis, the weight of the whole thing (including the 5-liter twin turbo V8) adds up to just... 1,360 kg (2998 lbs).

As you can imagine, the performance of this car is out-of-this-world which is probably also why they decided to make just six of them and price them as they did.

Getting back to the world record at hand here, the man behind the wheel is Koenigsegg’s own test driver, Robert Serwanski, who you might remember from an earlier video of the car on the Suzuka circuit.

He trusts the car so much that he decided to do the world record fun with no hands. That’s right, both the acceleration and deceleration stages were done hands-free, with the car showing absolutely no sign of hesitation. The new time set is now 17.95 seconds, 3.24 seconds faster than the old record.

Defalcated on sectors, the car, accelerated to 300 km/h (186 mph) in 11.92 seconds and then came to a complete stop in 6.03 seconds. Yes, those are more than impressive numbers. And to think that we visited the track and factory where all this brilliance is made possible. Angelholm is truly an impressive place to see.
