After presenting the street racer named Quant at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, dust seemed to have settled on the subject. Until now, when Swedish sports car manufacturer Koenigsegg found it useful, in a somewhat late and viguros official response, to clarify a few aspects regarding who and why came up with the idea.
Even if the manufacturer says the response you are about to read below comes as a reply to the many questions about the NLV Quant which followed the Geneva event, we can't help from wondering why the attitude. Below you have the official Koenigsegg release and, from what we can gather, it seems that the NVL-Koenigsegg venture has come to an end.
"We have recieved many questions about the NLV Quant since its unveiling at the Geneva Motorshow. Therefore we feel it is time to give an official update."
"The NLV Quant program was initiated and is wholly owned by NLV-Solar AG in Switzerland. The Quant is not a Koenigsegg Automotive car and was never intended to be."
"Koenigsegg Automotive has contributed with body and interior design and chassis conceptulisation to NLV. Koenigsegg Automotive has also done a feasability study for low volume production of the Quant on behalf of NLV."
"When it comes to the photovoltaic and electrical accumulator storage system, as well as owning and driving the whole project, these are all responsibities of NLV-Solar AG."
"At this moment in time Koenigsegg Automotive is no longer active in the program, as we have already delivered our agreed contributions to the program."
"Still Koenigsegg Automotive can consider to further contribute to the program if NLV sees a need for this and these discussion are ongoing."
"Furhtermore we wish NLV success with the program."
