Koenigsegg Confirms Rebuilding One:1 Destroyed in Nurburgring Crash, Driver Safe

The few hours we spent waiting for Koenigsegg's official statement on the savage Nurburgring crash that tore apart a One:1 were entirely worth it. The Swedes have taken to the company blog to offer us not one or two, but three pieces of good news.

We'll start with the driver. While we still don't know whether the K brand's driver, Robert Serwanski, or somebody else was behind the wheel when the airbag went off, we can confirm he's safe. It's not like such a statement needs any reinforcement, but check out the gallery and try to focus on the image that shows the skidmarks - this should be enough to understand what the driver went through even before hitting anything.

"The driver was taken to hospital as per standard procedures in such situations and was released the same afternoon," the Swedish carmaker explains.

This also means that, despite the... above average intensity of the crash, the 1,341 hp (1,361 PS) RWD machine did its job well, protecting the human behind its wheel.

"Obviously we are dismayed with this development but pleased that our safety systems worked as designed to protect our driver," the official statement reads.

We're sorry for deciding to leave this champagne-worthy detail for last: Koenigsegg is rebuilding the car! Since the company gifted the world with just seven units of the One:1, they're not going to give up on one (no pun intended) just because it was torn apart in a terrifying accident that once again showed us why the German track deserves its Green Hell status. Oh, no.

Heck, these guys would probably rebuild the VIN plate if they had to. All we want to know is when they'll be back in the Koenigsegg vs. Porsche game. Until then, we'll be here, doing the slow clap.
