Koenigsegg Chief Test Driver Manhandles One:1 with a Rollcage: Brutish V8 Sounds

With all the buzz generated by the latest incarnation of the Koenigsegg spirit, the 1,500 hybrid horsepower Regera, people tend to forget how awesome the reigning all-gas Angelholm creation, the One:1, is. This is why we're bringing you a piece of footage that shows the megawatt car in all its glory.

The clip sees Koenigsegg's chief test driver, Robert Serwanski, playing with the hypercar at the Millbrook Proving Ground. The abundance of elevation changes displayed by the British automotive playground means the twin-turbo V8 at the center of the One:1 gets put to serious work.

However, the clip doesn't focus on the overall go-extremely-fast experience, but on the soundtrack of the velocity behemoth. Given the TT setup every Koenigsegg features, this was a brilliant opportunity to prove such a layout can easily be put in the same sentence with "aural delight."

Interestingly, this particular One:1 is gifted with a rollcage, one we haven't seen inside the development car showed at various events.

It's worth noting that what you'll be able to hear in the video below is the result of a 5.0-liter V8 producing 1,361 metric horsepower and 1,371 Nm (1,011 lb-ft) - as many of you know, this K machine owes its name to its power-to-weight ratio, with the vehicle tipping the scales at 1,361 kg (3,000 lbs), while 1,361 PS is the equivalent of a megawatt, giving the One:1 its nickname.

Unlike the Koenigsegg models that came before it, the One:1's roof can be removed and stored in the luggage compartment, since the roof-mounted air scoop serving its engine won't allow that.

However, the Swedish exotic car builder has used this year's Geneva Motor Show to introduce a melange involving the Agera and the One:1 and having the aim to fix the shortcoming (as seen by some) mentioned above.

Called One of 1, this Koenigsegg is as close to a One:1 as an Agera will ever get. While the V8 has been upgraded to 1MW spec, the wet weight sits at 1,380 kg (3,042 lbs), while the aero package is unique. Those of you wishing to experience the Agera One of 1 in 4k resolution should check out the second clip below.
