Not a lot of companies out there are as exciting as these two Swedish ones, even though there's very little bringing them together other than the fact they both stem from the same Scandinavian country.
Koenigsegg has risen to celebrity fairly quickly after launching the company in 1996 and making the first delivery a full six years later. Now, though, the name has become synonymous with crazy beautiful designs and the kind of speed and acceleration that has the biggest players on the market worried. After a plethora of mid-engine hypercars, Koenigsegg introduced the Gemera model earlier this year, its first four-seater GT that also features a hybrid powertrain.

Polestar, on the other hand, has a much more different backstory. The company started as a racing team later turned performance tuner for Volvo cars. The famous cyan models were by far the most desirable among the entire lineup of the biggest Swedish manufacturer, which led to the Geely-owned company acquiring Polestar back in 2015. Two years later, the announcement came that Polestar would become a separate brand focused on performance, but also electric powertrains.

This brings us back to 2020 and the mysterious announcement both companies made on their respective Instagram pages. The three pictures show different angles of the Koenigsegg Gemera and Polestar Precept models, while the text in both cases is as helpful as a perforated spoon: "Something interesting is happening on the west coast of Sweden. Stay tuned."

Frankly, this could mean anything. Both companies now delve with electricity, so this is likely part of what brings them together. But is it to announce some sort of technological collaboration? Will the two share some powertrains components? Or is it something truly more exciting, like a new co-developed model? At this point, your guess is as good as any, so the best thing to do is follow their advice and stay tuned. Given their history, it's unlikely these two can disappoint.
