As hypercar aficionados are well aware, Koenigsegg has retired the Agera, with the 1,500 hp Regera hybrid remaining the carmaker's only offering. Nevertheless, the Swedes promised they would return with an Agera successor next Spring and new rumors about the upcoming beast have now surfaced.
Angelholm had confirmed the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March as the venue for the introduction of the hypercar, but the official details we have so far are limited to the teaser image above.
It seems that the machine will use the Ragnarok nameplate - according to The Supercar Blog, a source related to the carmaker spilled the beans on this.
Then there's the output of the car - a McLaren Life formum user talks about the newcomer packing 1,440 hp. And since the Agera RS came with a Megawatt engine option (think: 1,360 hp), the discussed numbers only seems fitting.
Keep in mind that the Ragnarok is expected to rely on internal combustion alone, so it shouldn't be too difficult to tune Koenigsegg's twin-turbo V8.
In Norse mythology, Ragnarok is a key concept. This talks about the rebirth of the world, albeit not before a monstrous battle what would lead to the killing of multiple gods and unleash natural disasters that would bring the world underwater. Subsequently, a reborn realm would surface, with the surviving gods repopulating the world by using just two human survivors.
As you can notice, there are enough metaphor points in this name to make it ideal for a Koenigsegg, so the possibility of this being turned into a badge seems generous.
Meanwhile, we'll remind you that Koenigsegg test driver Robert Serwanski recently blitzed the Nurburgring in his personal NC Miata. And while the man does this on a regular basis, we can't help but wonder if the K brand is preparing for a new Nurburgring production car lap record attempt after the missed 2016 opportunity.
