Koenigsegg Agera RS Refinement Arrives as Official One-Off Aftermarket Project

It’s a lot easier to guard something safely when few people know about its existence. This is probably one of the reasons why small and exotic automakers can keep secrets way better than large conglomerates. Koenigsegg’s new Project Agera RS Refinement almost flew under the radar because of that.

Almost, because the company made sure to promote its arrival, so here's social media to the rescue. After all, a red and black Agera RS one-off with lots of carbon fiber and even more wings will always present itself as something worthy of Internet fame.

Remember, Koenigsegg’s Agera RS is one of the rarest exotic hypercars out there, first showcased back in 2015 and only produced in 25 examples. One of them once held/still holds (remember the SSC Tuatara top speed controversy?) the production car world record for maximum speed, with an average of 447.19 kph (277.87 mph).

Now the company brought an example back from its owner’s garage for a custom job, creating Project Agera RS Refinement after six months of hard work and careful thought exchanges between the Koenigsegg aftermarket department and the customer.

The result is decidedly spectacular as the Agera RS clearly looks great in a red and black (carbon fiber) attire; the Swedes claim it’s more than a cosmetical treatment, though. The main idea was to include even more One:1 influences than originally envisioned, such as new air vents on the front hood. As work progressed, the Koenigsegg team proposed additional upgrades.

This led to a “whole re-engineering job,” complete with a bespoke new hood, a rear bonnet scoop addition, new shades of black (virtually all bolts, logos, accents, and even the exhaust have been turned to a “jet black” hue), while the additional front winglets easily slice even more air.

Inside, the customer got an upgrade that came from another hypercar in the family; the Agera RS was treated to the newer SmartCluster as seen in the Regera. At the back, the most obvious change comes in the form of a new top wing – one that is now active and easily controlled by the software in the car.
