Koenigsegg Agera R Crashes in China, Hypercar Seriously Damaged

The crash took place late last week in Chongqing , with the hypercar taking a serious hit. As you’ll be able to see in the videos below, the rear wheel on the right side of the machine is missing. The front apron has been torn apart, while the Swedish hypercar also shows scratch marks on its left side.

The reason for the crash? Various reports mention a 26-year-old man, who was driving under the influence and who lost control of the car. The vehicle spun 270 degrees, hitting some street furniture in the process, and the CCTV footage below can attest to its severity.

We are talking about the #82 Agera, which left its Swedish factory in stock form and returned in order to receive an Agera R performance upgrade. With the vehicle currently resting in a garage in the Chinese city, it will most likely come back to Ängelholm, Sweden, for the required repair job.

If this story sounds familiar, it might be because the details of the crash remind you of the Chinese LaFerrari crash from back in April. That’s when a 26-year-old trashed a LaFerrari in what was also a single-vehicle accident.

Interestingly enough, Qin Fen, the youngster who crashed the LaF, listed his Koenigsegg Agera R for sale subsequently. We never found out if the Swedish hypercar was sent away because the Prancing Horse fix didn’t come cheap, but we can confirm the two Agera Rs in this story are different vehicles.

Given the fact that one of these Koenigseggs can reach a price of 30 million yuan (€4.3 / $4.8 million) over in China, we’ll file this piece under “one sad, sad story.”
