Kobayashi Aims for Zero Mistakes in 2011

Kamui Kobayashi completed his first full-time campaign in Formula One this season, and what we can honestly wish him is to have as many as possible. And that's because in the short time he has been on the F1 roster, his name somehow managed to equal one very distinctive word: overtaking.

His performances in the European Grand Prix, when he overtook some 3 drivers in a matter of laps in the end, or in the Japanese Grand Prix, when he enthused his home crowd with some spectacular overtaking maneuvers, are only a few highlights of his season with BMW Sauber. Eventually, he finished the season in 12th place, easily outscoring both his teammates Pedro de la Rosa and Nick Heidfeld.

Asked in an interview with Formula One's official website about his secret to overtaking, Kobayashi started out with a joke: “I am Japanese I have small eyes - so I can’t see the others guys.”

If I feel I can overtake I just do it. That’s all, no secret,” he continued, on a more serious note.

While happy with what he has achieved in 2010, agreeing that he has improved his racing in every aspect, the Japanese driver has a few high aims for the upcoming campaign: score regular points and have no regrets at the finish line of each race.

We have had a lot of ups and downs, but overall we had a good season. In the beginning we were struggling a lot. (...) Towards the end of the season we were much stronger. The team did a great job to recover from this and I want to thank them for all their work.”

My personal aim (for 2011) is to make zero mistakes. For the team I hope we will have a good car, and be able to fight for points on a regular basis to improve our position in the championship,” he concluded.
