“Knight Rider” Rise and Fall?

Although NBC had announced in October that it would order a full season of the thrilling “Knight Rider”, the network has had second thoughts when confronted with a truly decreasing audience for the remake of the famous TV series. The question that arises undoubtedly is as it follows: why would a network order a low-rated series in the first place? Praying for a miracle to happen? Or just being fanatically devoted to year-round scheduling?

No matter the case, rumors said the network executives  are going to cut back on the episodes for “Knight Rider” in order to save some money during such hard times. That's why, instead of the expected 22 episodes, only 17 will be aired (that means only 9 more) and the TV series will conclude its first season on February 25. An NBC spokesman confirmed the decision, yet refused to make any further comments.

This gloomy future, however, doesn't officially imply the show's cancellation. If “Knight Rider”s audience isn't brought back to life in the next months, its destiny will follow the rise and fall cycle of historic empires.

Probably seeing that their unexpected decision becomes subject for morning gossip in a midseason release, NBC announced the show's 8 p.m. Wednesday time period will be given, starting March 4, to a "new show... to be announced soon."

NBC has a total number of 7.8  million average viewers with ages between 18 and 49. The network's main dilemma should be: what's going to replace “Knight Rider” next fall and let the viewers mouth opened so that there will be no more audience problems?
