It seems that everyone is just itching to get out of the house, and for good reason. There’s only so much inactivity we can take as humans. To help ease your quarantine blues, get a load of this towable.
Imagine for a moment that you’re driving along some coastline. The sun, the waves, the beach, are all beautiful. But it’s nearly sunset, you’ve been driving for most of the day, and there isn’t a hotel for miles. What do you do?

Well, in this case, you would find a spot on the edge of the road big enough for you to park, and all you’d have to do next is get out of the car and walk towards the trailer you’ve been towing for the past hundreds of miles.

In doing so, you look over to your spouse and start to smile. You open the door to the Südwind, and the only sound you hear is that of your children laughing and running round the trailer. Yeah, it’s that big. Although, I’m not so sure leaving your kids in there while driving is the best idea. Next, you join the fun and get ready for dinner and some sleep.

By now, you’ve picked up that we’re talking about a towable mobile home, a.k.a. caravan or trailer. But this trailer is nothing like those we’ve seen before. First of all, it’s manufactured by the famed Knaus, the company that brings us those one-of-a-kind luxury camper vans and motorhomes. This means that, by default, we can expect nothing less than absolute German perfection.

Just like any other product of this kind, the Südwind too comes with a wide range of floorplans that can sleep anywhere from 3-8 people, so for the sake of time and money, I'll just brush up on the more important aspects of the 16 available floorplans and layouts.

On the outside, there isn’t much to mention except the shell, which is rated for all-weather, and the hail-resistant roof that adds more protection to the whole trip. And if you’re worried about the level of insulation you’ll find on board, don’t be, as Knaus has a wide range of extra packages to choose from that will basically allow you to walk around in your undies.

Now, to get an idea of what we can expect from the Südwind, I've chosen to mention the interior and appliances found in a specific floorplan for this trailer, the 750 UDF. Why? Because it is the largest of all floorplans and because of its capacity to accommodate eight adults. Yes, eight!

To make sure that all eight guests are fed and kept alive, the kitchen is prepared with more than enough room and appliances to complete nearly any recipe. A 3-burner cooker with electric ignition and stainless-steel sink are at your disposal for soups, frying, woks, and whatnot. There’s also a 36-gallon (177-liter) fridge to keep all your leftovers edible.

As for the bathroom, a Thetford bench toilet is available with a shower basin built-in. Unlike other trailers that may include a skylight, this one is equipped with a lateral window. But don’t worry about bears seeing you bare; a curtain is also available.

For bedding, however, wow! Two separate dining areas are readily available to house any quests you may have by simply transforming into bedding spaces; or you can just use any of the bunk beds available. Oh, and don’t forget about the double bed at the back either.

Like most other trailers or tools of this sort, the Südwind too comes with a long list of options that we wouldn’t be able to cover in only one article. So, from here on out, you’re on your own. Don’t worry though, just click here, and Knaus will take care of the rest. If you end up wanting to buy one, let us know how much you paid, as you’ll have to go through a dealership to own one, and there’s always a middleman fee.
