Knaus' Boxlife 600 Camper Van Will Wine, Dine and Sleep Your Extended Family

We all want to get out of the house and take one long trip. Take me, for example. All I do is write about campers and e-bikes and anything else to give you a reason to step out of the house. I dream of the freedom to move, and it seems the team at Knaus sees things in a similar way.

What you see in the cover photo and gallery is known as the Boxlife 600 from world-renowned camper and motorhome expert Knaus. If you don’t know about them, don’t worry, we’ll take care of that. Honestly, it's enough to see the work they do to understand what they’re all about.

So, what are they all about? Well, the 600 will give you a vague hint of how this crew likes to do things. To start, this camper uses a Fiat Ducato 2.3-liter 120 Multi-jet base vehicle. Small? Nah, it’s a diesel with a 6-speed gearbox, so you know it'll do what you need.

Now, the exterior of the van seems plain. There's nothing exciting like hidden kitchens or fridges; no awnings or extendable tents either. Why? Because the interior of the 600 contains absolutely all the necessary space to do just about anything you can think of. Plus, by not messing with the aerodynamic design of the outer shell, this vehicle manages to retain most of its original efficiency.

Inside however, holy moly. Imagine your home. Now, imagine your daughter’s (if you have one) Barbie house. Guess what, you’re now Barbie or Ken, living in their very own mobile home. That may be a stretch on the reality, but it’s pretty damn close to the truth.

For example, the kitchen includes a two-burner gas stovetop with a glass cover, a sink with a faucet, and an extendable worktop. There’s also a 70-liter fridge to keep whatever you catch fresh. If you don’t like trapping, just go buy some grapes, and then give them to me so I can catch some rabbit. What, you think you have fangs for no reason? They’re meant for blood. Blood, I tell you!

Ok, back to work. Obviously, there’s also a restroom in there complete with a shower room with washstand, a cassette toilet, sliding mirror to make sure you don't have any rabbit bits stuck in your teeth, and a storage compartment for your vampire-friendly floss and UV-protection cream.

You may be asking yourself, “what’s up with the vampires?” Well, it’s kind of like this. Aside from a ton of systems meant for electrical, heating, water, and general safety and comfort, the Boxlife includes more space for sleeping than I could ever imagine - seven guests. Honestly, I imagine it like a scene from a vampire movie where there’s a concentration of blood-sucking creatures in a certain area.

While that's the capacity claimed by Knaus, my personal opinion is I have yet to see how you can sleep seven people in the Boxlife 600 without making them feel like there isn’t enough tent space. If you pay close attention to the manufacturer's website, it does mention that the maximum number of beds is seven. Then again, this is a European company, and they tend to have smaller social averages regarding body size and weight. In other words, they’re skinnier. Why? Must be the food.

So how much does it cost? Well, you’ll have to use a dealership for this kind of information. Currently, we found one starting at around $74,000. Not bad considering you’ve also got a 10-year warranty on the thing and can take your entire family on a trip.
