Kimi Remains Cool About Departing Ferrari Rumors

The 2007 Formula One world champion responded to the allegations of him leaving the Scuderia Ferrari next season with the cool and calm attitude worthy of his "Iceman" nickname.

Confronted with speculations that Alonso will take his seat at Ferrari from next year, the Finn declared he has a contract for 2010 with Ferrari and that the decision isn't his anyway. One thing is certain though, sure of his abilities Kimi doesn't worry about his future career in Formula 1.

"I have a contract. I don’t worry about me - there are other guys out there who worry much more. As I said, I have a contract and it’s not me who makes the decision, so it makes no difference. I don’t worry", said Raikkonen.

With Raikkonen closing the subject very calm and prompt, he then talked about Spa. The Finn disclosed Ferrari is looking to be competitive here again and aim for the podium, but withheld from making appreciations about the car's performance, as they have to test first in order to set their realistic goals.

"It’s a nice place (Spa) and I always like to race here. We will try (to get a podium), but we have to wait for tomorrow to get an idea of what will be possible. First you have to drive to see what is realistic", said Kimi.

When asked about Ferrari's strategy with KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems), Raikkonen had the following to say: "it helps at every race. I haven’t been in a meeting yet to find out where we will use it, but usually in the first corner and at the exit of the last corner - and somewhere in between - but that will be discussed with the engineers".

The Finn also mentioned that he believes Luca Badoer will do better here than in Valencia: "it should be easier here because he has been here before and has more knowledge about the car. But how well he’s doing we will see in practice".
