Specifically, Kari Tiainen - the seven-time World Champion in Enduro - will be the team manager of the new Raikkonen - Kawasaki MX team.

“Two of the most succeeded motorsport athletes of Finland, Raikkonen and Tiainen, want to be part of promoting the Finnish talents to the top,” a statement from Kawasaki reads.

“Kimi Raikkonen, who moved from F1 to WRC, expands his motorsport variation by founding a motocross team ICE1RACING to compete in MX1 and MX2 in the Grand Prix circus. Riders Toni Eriksson (MX1) and Ludde Soderberg (MX2) belong already to the top names in Finland despite their young age and are current Finnish Champions in their own series,"

The team, which bases in Spain for their training, starts the season on February 13 with an international competition and Grand Prix season on April 10 from Sevlieco, Bulgaria.

“We go to the Grand Prix to fight for the points and we want to get to the top, we are prepared to work for that,” Soderberg said in a statement for the press.

The ICE1RACING team has also a junior team, which consists of six riders, who compete in their own series in Finnish Championship.

Raikkonen is also free to walk out on his WRC commitments with Citroen this season and head back to Formula 1 as a replacement for injured Robert Kubica at Lotus Renault.
